How to choose the right metal hall: size, height and purpose

Published: · 6 min read

A well-chosen hall pays for itself: in two years you will not be short of space, and you will not pay for square metres you do not use. Here is what to settle before any quote.

1. Start with the purpose

A logistics warehouse, a production hall, a car service centre and an agricultural hall have different requirements. The purpose sets the height, loads, insulation and number of doors.

  • Warehouse: high ceiling for racking and access for forklifts
  • Production: machinery, possibly an overhead crane, heating and ventilation
  • Agriculture: wide spans for machinery and bulk storage
  • Retail and service: façade, windows, sectional doors

2. Area and shape

Work out the area you need today and leave a reserve for expansion. Steel structures can be extended later if the design allows for it from the start.

3. Eaves height and span

We build halls with eaves heights from 3 to 21 m and clear spans of up to 30 m with no central columns. A column-free span means easy manoeuvring for trucks and forklifts and better use of space.

4. Insulation and panels

For cold stores or simple hangars light cladding may be enough. For production, retail and cold rooms, PIR sandwich panels with superior thermal performance are chosen.

5. Site and access

Check the plot, transport access, utilities and required permits. We prepare the technical and execution design for permits and deliver across Moldova.
